Lincoln in Washington Tour (Registration is Closed)

When Abraham Lincoln had a question, he often walked from the White House to the nearby home or office of the man who had the answer. There are many anecdotes about his encounters with startled colleagues who were always surprised to see the president at their door. Lincoln Group past president John O'Brien spent five years researching contemporary newspapers, correspondence, diaries, and official reports. He produced a detailed city map that identifies the sites Lincoln visited as president. Allen Guelzo described the map as a necessary and important contrtibution to Lincoln studies. John created a unique walking tour of the Washington that Lincoln knew and explored during the Civil War. But O'Brien now lives in Denver, Colorado and his tours do not happen so often. The Lincoln Group is proud to sponsor John in giving a one-time Lincoln in Washington Tour as part of our Lincoln Memorial Centennial celebration weekend. This is a Members Only event and registration is limited to the first 25 people to RSVP. John will have a complimentary copy of his beautiful map for all on this free tour. Wear shoes that will be comfortable for a 1.5 hour, one mile walk. Tour group will assemble at the Andrew Jackson statue in Lafayette Square at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21. If it rains, we will meet at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.
